Today the "Unseen World" Winterm with Ms. Colleen Bumford and Mr. Clayton Osborne had a special guest join them. Principal Clinical Specialist Mrs. Gretchen Osborne from Abbott Laboratory brought pig hearts for each student to dissect and truly peek into an... unseen world!
The students had a series of instruments they could be use to dissect the hearts such as scissors, scalpels, knives, etc. Mrs. Osborne taught the Winterm how blood flow works and the overall anatomy of a heart. Pig hearts are very similar to human hearts in structure, size, and function. Pig hearts are often used to teach others about the heart's anatomy.
There were some mixed feelings from the students, but overall it was a great experience for everyone.
