Admissions Process

Our goal through the admissions process is to help you determine if The Orchard School is the best educational fit for your child and your family. The Admissions Team is here to help you through this process. Please see the steps below for application instructions. We look forward to receiving your application!

1. Application:
The application deadline for first-round placement for the 2023-24 school year is January 31st to be considered for first-round offers in March. After this date, applications will be considered through rolling admission as positions remain available. If you have previously requested information through our website or applied for any child at Orchard, you will select "Already have an account" when you click through. If you do not know your username or password, select "First Time Logging In/Forgot Your Login". 


2. Records and Reports:
Student records (report cards/ progress reports and academic testing) must be provided. If your child has had any professional evaluations, please include copies of the evaluation results. Records may be delivered, mailed, or scanned and emailed to

3. Confidential Teacher Recommendations: 
Each applicant's current teacher must provide a confidential teacher recommendation form (link below). This requirement is waived for Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten applicants who are not currently in a daycare/classroom setting. Applicants for fifth through eighth grade must submit two confidential teacher recommendation forms. 


4. Academic Testing for Grades Five Through Eight:
Parents of applicants for grades five through eight may contact to learn more about registering for admissions testing. The Orchard School uses the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).

5. Student Assessment:
All students are required to complete a student assessment as part of the admissions process. A completed application, including all requested forms and records, must be submitted before an assessment can be scheduled. Parents/Guardians of applicants may contact the admissions office ( to schedule their child's participation in an assessment.

6. Admissions Notification:
Admissions decisions for first-round offers are mailed on Friday, March 3, 2023. After this date, applicants will be considered through rolling admission as positions remain available.

Admissions Assessments

All applicants for the 2023-2024 school year will be invited to attend a required assessment.
