The Position
The Orchard School is seeking an innovative, dynamic, collaborative teacher with a strong background in Spanish who can enhance the current program. The successful candidate will also be an advisor, teach or co-teach a winter intensive class, and assist in chaperoning the class on an overnight trip.
Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Spanish, education, or related field
Bi-lingual/ fluent in both English and Spanish
Knowledge and experience teaching the four areas of language acquisition
Experience and enthusiasm for working with middle school students
Ability to write narrative assessments
Understanding of developmental stages of middle schoolers
Understanding of multiple learning styles and differentiated instruction
A commitment to progressive education
Ability to design hands-on, experiential learning activities that advance the targeted learning outcomes
Ability to work with technology to support, supplement, and enhance teaching and learning
Willingness to learn and improve professionally
Ability to collaborate and work with a team
Ability to work with parents in a thoughtful and proactive manner
Willingness to engage in all aspects of the Orchard community
