Donna Hicks Engages Orchard in Conversations on Dignity

Today we welcomed Donna Hicks, Ph.D., to The Orchard School as part of the Dignity Center’s 20th anniversary. She spent the day in conversation with faculty, staff, the leadership team, and members of the Board, and later joined Orchard parents for an evening program on what it means to live, learn, and lead with dignity. Before her talk, she was presented with a poem written for the Dignity Center’s opening twenty years ago…a reminder of how deeply this work has been woven into our community.

The conversations today were a chance to reflect on why dignity matters: creating space where every voice can be heard, and where compassion and respect guide how we move forward together. And as we reflect on the importance of dignity, we also pause to never forget the lives lost on this day, September 11, twenty-four years ago, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the years that followed. Please take a moment today to remember their courage and reflect on how dignity and compassion can guide us forward.

We are grateful for the conversations today and for the chance to continue this important work together.
