Sneak Peek: See You Next Week, Owls!

We are so excited to safely welcome students back on campus next week. ICYMI: here’s Orchard’s back on campus plan that explains everything from facilities upgrades to natural playgrounds. Below, there are a few pictures from the summer that highlight our journey back to Orchard.

See you soon, Owls!

*Reminder: Parents, we ask that you please stay in your cars during drop off and pick up. FYI: there might be balloons and other items out to celebrate the first day of school and marketing will take pictures of that throughout the week. Thanks in advance for your help!

    • The Owl is ready for our first day!

    • Middle school students have been coming in to get their computers all squared away. Feels good to see them in person. :)

    • First grade teachers made lap desks for their students. These will be in addition to their regular seats that are 6 ft apart.

    • Instead of tape, we found these fun velcro pads that will help students stay 6ft apart.

    • There are also age-appropriate signs in each division.

    • LOTS of extra space!

    • Work on the natural playgrounds continue. Amphitheaters are popping up on each playground.

    • This element on the playground is intriguing. Any guesses!?

    • The Owls' Nest will be online this year and it's already stocked with new products. Stay tuned.

    • Planning time!

    • The next few pictures show teachers meeting in the outdoor spaces that will soon be utilized by our students! For 98 years, Orchard students have used nature as a teacher, so learning outside is nothing new for them!

    • All teachers and students will be wearing a face covering while inside the building, but that doesn’t mean students won’t see their teacher’s faces! EC/ES Director Heather Girton knows how it important it is for children, especially in the lower grades, to see their teacher’s face. SO she bought a button maker and went to town!

    • Yes, yes, and yes!

    • Before you wave at the touchless entry, make sure you read the important sign!

    • Please don't question the strength of an Orchard teacher! :)

    • MS classroom (please note: rooms aren't 100% ready during the time of this photograph)

    • ES classroom (please note: rooms aren't 100% ready during the time of this photograph)

    • EC classroom (please note: rooms aren't 100% ready during the time of this photograph)

    • One of our COVID rooms is directly across the hallway from the nurse, and it has easy access to outside.

    • We updated our school-wide HVAC and air filtration systems to improve air quality and increase the sanitation of surfaces. The system utilizes UV technology and hydrogen peroxide particles to reduce the distance viruses spread in the air by 50%, while simultaneously reducing germs on surface areas.

    • Getting those new computers ready!

    • Desks have never been super important in Orchard classrooms. But we will do what it takes to create the safest environment possible. We ordered quite a bit of these.

    • Touchless faucets galore.
