Photo Album: Orchard's Back to School Celebration & Capital Campaign Launch

The photo album starts after Sherri Helvie's message:

Dear Orchard Friends and Families,

This evening’s Back-to-School celebration to launch Orchard’s 97th year was fun and festive, and it was a pleasure to welcome back our students, families, alumni, Trustees, and Governors for our celebration on the green. Many, many thanks to those of you who joined us, both to ring in the new school year, and to launch the public phase of Orchard’s capital campaign:  Celebrating our Roots, Cultivating for the Future. You can learn more about the capital campaign here, and we look forward to sharing more with you in the weeks and months ahead as we invite our community to help us reach our goals.

Tonight our community had the chance to learn more about one project of the campaign that has already been made possible thanks to the generous support of early donors:  the Fred Lorenz Makerspace. Tonight many people had the chance to get a “sneak peek” with Makerspace Coordinator Scott Weaver, and our students enjoyed fun, interactive learning activities with faculty members Reegan Homburg and Darren Lauria. Our LEED-certified Makerspace will embody Orchard’s long history of inspiring students as they dream big, and build things by hand--and we’re eager to welcome them into the completed facility in January!

But best of all, tonight’s gathering was an opportunity to connect as a community and celebrate our students, both past and present.  We’re looking forward to a year of joyful learning, and fulfilling our mission to educate and develop the whole child. Thank you for all that you do to make that possible for all of our children at Orchard. Welcome back, Owls: here’s to a great school year!
