Video: Orchard Teachers Implement Weekly Reading Block For Entire Middle School

Once a week in middle school all students, plus faculty and staff, drop everything they’re doing for an entire class period. For 45 minutes it’s as quiet as a mouse throughout the middle school hallways as students are fully invested in their favorite books.
 
The initiative comes from the English department heads, Sydnee Lindblom and Kate Bueltmann. The overall goal was to make more time for students to have independent reading during the school.
