“I feel ready for high school not only because I’ve learned school knowledge, but also because I feel confident in who I am as a person. That’s something that Orchard has really helped me with—being comfortable in my own skin and being comfortable talking to adults. One of the biggest things I’ve learned from Orchard is there is never any harm in asking for help. It’s made me very confident in doing things that are way outside of my comfort zone. Another thing that has really helped me is being in Mr. Napier’s [Director of Middle School] math group. It’s a more advanced math group. The real philosophy with it is about trying your best. It’s less about the answer and more about can you think about a problem in new and interesting ways.

“This year at Orchard, I’ve felt prepared in math thanks to Mr. Mossakowski. Also, my previous years at Orchard have helped me by making me think a little more logically than numerically. I’m actually taking the highest math class a freshman can take at North Central, which is cool. Also, because of the sense of community at Orchard, I feel like I’ll always be able to make relationships with my teachers and never be afraid to ask for help if I have questions."
