In addition to Daughters of Z, Sally also sings with the Indianapolis Justice Choir and the Indianapolis Women’s Chorus. She will be playing auxiliary percussion in Footlite’s production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert in May, and guitar in Buck Creek’s production of Dogfight in June!

Having performed all over Indy with multiple organizations, we asked Sally if there is anything she’s learned from her experiences that she utilizes in the classroom.

“Absolutely! I believe it is important for music teachers to continue to learn and grow as musicians. My musical skills grow each time I work on a new performance. It's also important for music teachers to be on the "other side of the baton," if you will. I learn important methods of teaching music through observing and talking to the conductors and song leaders I work with. It helps me think of how my students might feel when I am teaching a new concept or skill. It's easy to think certain musical concepts are obvious, but they're only obvious to me because I've had wonderful teachers helping me make connections along the way. I hope to fulfill that role with my students as well.”
