Spotlight: Orchard Fourth Graders Give Peers In-Depth Spanish Presentations

Fourth grade Spanish students at The Orchard School are taking their peers on a tour of Latin American countries of the world. Students are making in-depth presentations about the country they've selected and how that country makes our world a very small place, connecting us all. The presentations are in Spanish and the students have been researching and practicing for three weeks!
Orchard Spanish students investigate the Spanish-speaking world to determine our interconnectedness and interdependence. Students use democratic indicators from The Economist to compare and contrast foreign governing styles with the United States. How do coffee beans from Guatemala make the world a small place? When families from Orchard buy and grind their coffee beans, we are all connected and should look out for each other. This project pulls from a few of our 9 Promises including, Global Readiness, The Best Teaching and Successful Outcomes.
