Orchard Teachers Attend Prestigious Conference

Over the summer a group of Orchard middle school teachers were lucky enough to attend a very reputable and progressive conference. They went to the Anja S. Greer Conference on Mathematics and Technology at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire.

This is the 33rd annual conference at the school. Their mission statement is this; “The primary emphasis of the conference is mathematics focusing on the impact and applications of technology in the classroom and the role of technology in today's and tomorrow's mathematics curricula.”

Orchard’s science teacher, Matt Frongillo, loved the conference and was introduced to a new way of collaboration. "Spending time at the Anja S. Greer Mathematics and Technology conference this summer was a great experience,” he says. “I was exposed to a ton of new ideas and found a whole online math community (the Math Twitter Blogosphere, or MTBos as the cool kids call it) that offers awesome, immediate feedback/suggestions for the classroom. It was also great fun getting to learn with and from the rest of the Orchard middle school math team."
