On a solstice hike last week, preschool students at The Orchard School used tin punch lanterns that they made in the woodshop to light the way. Since early childhood students were the only ones on campus last week, they decided to journey all over campus while spreading some winter cheer to faculty and staff members.

In the northern hemisphere, the winter solstice marks the longest night of the year and the "official" start of winter.

Besides having plenty of time to stargaze this evening, the orbits of Saturn and Jupiter will align closer than they have in more that 400 years! The result will be a bright star looking object in the night sky. We hope you were able to see the "naked eye" event right at sunset as the planets set shortly after the sun goes down.

Orchard sends love and light to the whole community. Here's to brighter days ahead!
