The Orchard School Families Project: Mince Family

What’s your definition of family? Although the dictionary has different definitions of family, the meaning of the word is special to the individual. The Orchard Families Project was designed as a way to build connections and celebrate the families we have in our Orchard community. The project is very simple, what does family mean to you? We asked some families to answer very simple and fun questions that explain what makes their family unique. We hope you will take the time to get to learn more about the families that make up our community. After all, we are all a part of the Orchard family!

THE MINCE FAMILY:

The Mince family consists of Jen, Nancy, and Alex. Alex has attended The Orchard School since she was allowed to join a classroom way back in Multiage Preschool, over seven years ago and is currently a fourth-grader in Jenny Johnson’s classroom.

The Mince family believes family means being together, having fun, and working toward each other’s goals together with support and love. Some of the traditions they enjoy are sitting down to eat breakfast together every day, inventing word games on road trips, decorating fun Christmas cookies, and collecting village pieces of The Christmas Story movie. Their favorite holidays to celebrate are Christmas and Thanksgiving. However, they also love Valentine’s Day and Independence Day.

The Mince family’s favorite family memories revolve around traveling together each year. They love trips that include white water rafting, hiking, and spending time on the beach.

When asked what makes the Mince family the Mince family, they said they are three legs of a tripod. All three members of their family have a voice and a vote and they wouldn’t have it any other way!

Thank you, Mince family, for sharing your family with the Orchard community!
