Orchard Families Come Together to Support the Study of Identity in Preschool

The study of identity is a major focus in all preschool classrooms at The Orchard School. We believe this Progressive education tenet is the key to make the world a better place.

The pictures below capture the finished projects created by our youngest students. These unique pieces of art generate important discussions about identity throughout the classroom community. Orchard believes that if this work is done at an early age, children will discover the true meaning of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Students wrote poems, made family books, constructed identity blocks, filmed a movie, created identity boxes, and much more. Earlier this month, Multiage Preschool families were invited to walk through each classroom’s identity gallery.
