  • Global Education at Orchard

    One of our ‘nine promises’ at The Orchard School is “Global Readiness.” What does global readiness mean for elementary and middle school children in the 21st century? In a recent article in TIME Magazine, (March 24, 2008) Jeffrey Sachs, Director of The Earth Institute at Columbia University and author of “The End of Poverty,” identifies the defining challenge of the 21st century to be the world’s need “to face the reality that all of humanity shares a common fate on a crowded planet.” He goes on to state, “We have reached the beginning of the century with 6.6 billion people living in an interconnected global economy producing an astounding $60 trillion of output each year.”
